Using the RTM Timer

For the purposes of billing codes 98980 and 98981, the RTM Timer automates time-tracking for RTM Management Services.

When should the timer be started?

You should activate the RTM timer whenever you are utilizing the PT Wired system and not billing time for another code, meaning when you are not in an in-clinic treatment slot with the patients. The system keeps track of your RTM activity times and logs all time spent.

This means that you cannot double-dip with the RTM Timer.

For example, some providers might be billing Therapeutic Exercise while the patient is engaging in an exercise in the clinic. Providers could also have PT Wired app open and be developing their HEP concurrently while this is happening. If so, since you are already billing for therapeutic exercise, you cannot additionally claim the time as RTM time.

Which RTM Activities are tracked?

  • View Adherence Log - viewing the patient's adherence log, profile, and current prescription.

  • Edit Exercise Program - creating or editing an exercise program.

  • View Patient RTM Details - viewing the patient's details on the RTM tray; including the patient's data log, clinical monitoring log, and billing items.

  • Messaging Patient - reading or sending secure messages to the patient.

  • Live Call - engaging in a live patient interaction; via phone or video call.
    • *Note*: Since this will be performed outside of the PT Wired system, it is the only RTM activity that needs to be manually added to the Clinical Monitoring Log.

RTM Time Entry Overlap

If the RTM Timer is running while you're manually adding an RTM time, or if you've added manual RTM activities which overlap, a pop-up will be displayed to let you know that the times are overlapping. You'll need to either click "Yes" or "No." If you click "Yes," the RTM time will be accounted for in the Total Clinical Monitoring Time. If you select "No," this will allow you to make changes to the date and the time that the activity occurred.
