Steps Tracking (iOS)

The PT Wired mobile app has an integrated pedometer component that tracks patient steps on iOS devices.

Enabling Step Tracking for New Patients

Upon logging in to the app for the first time as a patient, access to this functionality should be "allowed" in order for the steps to be tracked.

Existing patients can enable step tracking by clicking the "Track Steps" button under the "More" tab on the bottom right of the page.

Monitoring Recorded Patient Steps via the Adherence Log

Providers are able to monitor the recorded steps via the Adherence Log on the patient's profile.

Best practice: Before the patient leaves the clinic, make sure they have downloaded the app, are logged in, and have step track access enabled!

Notes:

  • Steps taken are considered as a patient's RTM data point.
  • The need for the app to run in the background in order to acquire data should be made clear to the patients by providers.
  • For the steps to be continuously tracked & logged, the mobile app should be running in the background.
  • Another point that the providers should explain is that the patient must continue to use the app with SOME frequency or it will eventually stop retrieving the steps.
